Personality: Ethan has two sides to his personality, there is the side that most people get to see, the very arrogant and cold showing no remorse for what he does, and he wont think twice about betraying you. He believes that the vampires nature is permanently dark, and that they are natural hunters and predators who are meant to kill, and so he believes that those who live off animal blood are unnatural. He is also self-contained and reserved on the surface, and has a bit of a temper, only lets his emotions through when he's angry. He can be very unpredictable, going from sweet and charming, to angry and violent with in minutes.
He doesn't like to be controlled or bossed around and constantly plays word games, especially when it comes to dancing around an issue, he doesn't want to talk about, and even more when that issue involves his true feelings on a serious subject. He will always get his way, and doesn’t care how or what he has to do for it. He doesn’t make friends easily, and if you can gain his trust, or love, you have just did the impossible.
Though Ethan is not all doom and gloom. Not many people have seen this side of him but he has a wicked sense of humor, and can be very loyal to those he considers friends. He is very artistic with drawing and photography and has an amazing singing voice. If you can gain his love, you will never be loved so deeply by anyone else, thought once you have this, you better not betray him, or you might just end up dead. He can be a little overly protective, and very stubborn about this. Ethan really wants to and tries to be “good” but his inner darkness and outlook on life as a vampire stop this from happening.

Strengths: He thinks his cold bitterness is his biggest strength, it keeps him from being betrayed, or turned on, the, 'get the other person before they get you', has kept him alive for this long, he looks out for number one.
Weaknesses: That small soft spot he has kept extremely protected all these years. Deep down, he wants love, he wants that companion, but that connection with someone could cloud his judgment, this is why he is fearful of love.

History: Lets start at the beginning. Ethan was born on a hot July night to his beautiful mother Angela and farther Ben Carlow back in the 17th century, 1688 to be exact . It is unknown the exact town he was born in, all is known is it was some where in Ireland. Ethan was an only child due to the Williamite War in Ireland, starting only months after he was born, and his farther off to fight, never making it back home. After the war he grew up a normal childhood, his month was poor, and so home schooled him not having money to send him to a public school.
It is unknown exactly how Ethan was turned, but it was 1711, when he was only 22 years old. With the little bits that are known, it is thought that he returned home after hunting for dinner for him and his mother. He returned home to find his mother dead and a stranger rooting thought the little things they had. Blinded with rage at his mothers death he attacked the stranger, three days later he woke, alone and with an uncontrollable hunger.
He was left to figure out this new life on his own, and the entire village that was near by suffered because of this. Truth is, a lot of innocent people suffered over the next 100 years as he travled the world. At first he felt guilt and remorse for what he done, telling his victim how sorry he was for what he was about to do. For the next 200 years he fought to control his thirst with failure, no human was safe around him. During this time, he met a lot like him, though none gave him much help on how to control himself, a couple gave him helpful advice, like holding your breath, but nothing to stop himself once that drive of hunger kicked in. One tip that would of be more then helpful would have been keeping himself well fed, all the time. Because he didn’t want to kill he tried to go as long as he could with out feeding, then when that urge was to great he would go on a massacre.
Now 323 years later he has learned the ’tricks of the trade’ and has accepted that this is what he is, a blood lust predator, a wild animal. With the population growing, and the times changing, it was survival to grow and change with time. He has much success controlling his thirst and can now pass off as human, until he feeds on you. Tired of hiding all day, the rumour of a small town covered in dark clouds more then half of the year was enough for him to go searching for this town called Forks, Washington.
