, just call out my name. WHEREVER I AM, I’LL COME RUNNING TO SEE YOU AGAIN. Damn it! Will someone please let me out of here?!”
Usually the vampire would not use profanity so loudly at this hour and in a place such as this, but he was quite perturbed. What made this even more obvious was that he let out a heavy sigh and a frustrated growl from behind the door of the broom cupboard. He beat against the door a few more times in hopes that someone would hear him and help him out. He had tried many times to unlock the door and to force it out of the way, but there was no avail. The door would not give in. He thought about using his vampire strength and bust it down! He couldn't, however, because he didn't feel like paying for damages.
“What the…” he said lowly and leaned his head against the door. He sighed heavily and closed his eyes, wondering whether or not he was stuck in a nightmare of some kind. When he opened his eyes to see darkness again, he let out a groan and flipped on the tiny flash light on his key ring. A light illuminated its tip and filled the small broom cupboard. He glanced around. Surrounding him was a conglomeration of things: brooms, mops, cleaning supplies.
How did he end up in that cupboard anyway? The only thing he could remember was walking down the second floor, humming as he did so. When he reached a door to which he had no idea where it went, the door suddenly swung open, and he was thrown, seemingly by force, into the broom cupboard. He had fallen upon the brooms, mops, buckets, and other supplies with an oomph and a slight gasp of pain and surprise. When he managed to stand on his feet and find the doorknob, he rubbed the back of his head and ran his fingers through his curls. Maybe he just tripped. That, or his power went psycho on him.
“Man…” he said to himself. He started to beat on the door once again. “Hello?! Is there anyone out there?! Can someone help me?! Pleeaaaase?” He let out a faint laugh at himself. He knew that he probably sounded pathetic from the inside of a closet. He had come to the hospital to visit a friend who had just given birth, and luckily he was just leaving or he might not have got to see her or the baby. At 4am in the morning, he didn't want to be stuck in here.

I'm the reason why you can't get to sleep
I'm the girl you never get just quite what you see
Yawning, Logan rolled over and looked at the alarm clock that sat on her nightstand. The harsh glowing red numbers told her it was nearly 4AM. So why was she up? It was too early. Rolling back over Logan pulled the cover tight around her and tried to go back to sleep.
~~~~
Ten minutes later, Logan groaned and rolled back over. She wasn’t getting back to sleep. Staring at the clock she wondered what in the world she could do at this hour. Watching TV was sure to wake Zain and Holly. Ashley and Amera were both sound asleep in their own rooms. Thinking on it, Logan grabbed her cell phone and turned it on. Kenny didn’t sleep, maybe she could slip out and do something with him. Pulling up his number, she hit call and put the phone to her ear. It rang once and then went to a beeping noise. Hanging the phone up, Logan looked at it and wondered for a bit. Was he talking to someone else? Was it off? Why would it be off? Was he with someone? Another girl maybe? Logan’s mind was over flowing with thoughts as it often did at so early an hour. She made up her mind then, she’d go find him.
Slipping out of bed, Logan dressed quickly and then quietly made her way out of the house. If Holly and Zain asked her where she’d gone, she’d just tell them for a run, and it wasn’t even a lie, she was going to run. Once outside, Logan breathed deep the fresh scent of the forest. Zain had been smart to house the family away from town and with their own hunting grounds. Breathing out, Logan dashed off towards Kenny’s house. Upon reaching it, she knew without even knocking that he wasn’t home. Frowning she turned and picked up the freshest of Kenny’s trails and followed it, smiling at the thought of seeing him.
The trail eventually led her to the hospital. This brought the frown back to her face. Why would Kenny be at the hospital? He couldn’t be helped there. Maybe he had hurt someone? Maybe some girl he was with had gotten hurt. Logan growled softly at herself and shook her head. Damn her early morning times of doubting and worrying. Kenny’s father worked here, he could just as well be visiting him. Pushing the thoughts from her head, she sighed and went inside to look for Kenny.
His scent trail led her to a closet. For a moment she just started at it until she heard Kenny from behind the door. “Hello?! Is there anyone out there?! Can someone help me?! Pleeaaaase?” Chucking, she leaned against the door and called into him. ”Now how did you manage to get yourself locked in there?” She giggled a bit and waited for him to answer. Kenny shook his head at himself trying to figure out how the heck he ended up in this mess. He groaned lightly and put his head to the concrete wall, then gave it a kick. "AH!" He cursed lightly from the small ache in his toe. His red eyes were closed and he knocked loudly at the door hoping someone...anyone would hear. It was then he heard a noise....or thought he did. "I'm going crazy." He muttered to himself. A shiver creeped up his spine as curiosity and slight fear rose in him. Something fell over. "Shit!" He said angrily staring the piece of wood that startled him. This was getting ridiculous and it didn't help that he hated being closed in. You'd think being a vampire he wouldn't have an ache in his toe nor would he have been startled....must be in his head.
Kenny let out a sigh of relief when he heard his girlfriends voice. "As much as I like playing seven minutes in Heaven..." He started. "I think I'll just step out before the door decides to play tricks again." He finished his sentence with a silent sigh. He knew the door didn't cause him to fly into the closet. He also knew Logan would know he wasn't playing seven minutes in heaven.
At least he didn't have to stay in there all night and the fact someone found him that wasn't one of those, 'Haha you're stuck' and leave people was even better. He didn't care if Logan joked about it since he knew he must have sounded pretty stupid, the only thing he was thinking was how he hasn't been able to leave the cursed cupboard. "Bloody door." He cursed it again. "I don't even know how I ended up stuck in here." He gave a shrug wanting to leave. He didn't like being around so much blood. It made him feel pretty uncomfortable. He just waited for her to open the door.
Then it dawned on him. Why was Logan at the hospital at such an odd hour? "Is everything okay?" He asked hoping no one had become hurt. By her tone though she didn't seem upset.
I'm the reason why you can't get to sleep
I'm the girl you never get just quite what you see
Logan’s eyebrow quirked as he mentioned playing seven minutes in Heaven. With the state that her brain was in this early in the morning she went off on another doubt trip. Had he been here with someone else? Had he and the other person gone to play seven minutes in Heaven only to have whoever it was lock him in the closet after? Logan became lost in her thoughts and missed what Kenny said next. They had never talked this early in the morning and really Logan never expressed her fears to Kenny. The fears were her own and truly they were silly. But she still had them. She woke up everyone morning wondering if Kenny still cared for her or if he had moved on.
Blinking, she pulled herself back to the current situation as she heard Kenny’s slightly worried voice. Putting on a smile, she opened the closet door for him and smiled at him. “The only one you should be playing seven minutes in Heaven with is me.” She said with a slight edge to her voice. She was trying to hide her doubts and feelings from him. Chuckling, she pulled him out of the closet and hugged him as she nodded. “Everything’s OK. I just couldn’t sleep.” She pulled back from the hug and looked at him. Logan could tell that being in the hospital was hard on him. Taking his hand she started leading him towards an exit as she talked. “I woke up and couldn’t sleep so I texted you. But you didn’t answer so I went to find you." Logan looked over at him with a smile and squeezed his hand lightly. She was lucky to have him. He was all hers and nothing would change that. Even if she had her doubts every now and then. She didn’t even care if the Volturi ended up hunting the two of them because they were together. She wouldn’t leave Kenny for any reason. He would have to be the one to leave her. And she hoped that never happened.
Kenny gave her a sweet smile when she opened the door. Her words caused him to chuckle. "I wouldn't want to play that game with anyone but you, you know that." He gave her a tight comforting hug as she stated all was fine. For that, he was happy. It worried him servilely to think anyone he cared about could be hurt or in danger. His fingers laced with hers as she took his hand. His steps were light and quiet as usual, being a vampire made it possible to not be heard at all when moving.
"My friend I was telling you about had her baby so I thought I'd come see her. I turned my phone off so it wouldn't be a bother to those sleeping." He explained why he didn't get her messages. "I'm sorry." Kenny looked over at her with the same smile he always had around her. Although the closet had irritated him and all the blood was bothering him with Logan it took the edge off. Of course, now that he was around so much blood for a long period of time he was sure his eyes were black. His throat was burning and his moods were all over the place... He knew it would be best to feed sooner rather than later.
"How come you can't sleep?" The thought of nightmares occurred to him. Although he doesn't have nightmares or remember them he knows they can be scary. "If you would like we can go to my house so you can rest." This was the only thing Kenny got jealous over Logan for; besides boys staring at her. He envied her because she can sleep. Being what he is has became more than a burden but at least he's growing used to it. And now that he had Logan in his life he had something worth living for.
A smile spread over her face as he hugged her. How she could ever doubt him she had no idea. It was a morning thing. Taking his hand, she grinned as he laced her fingers with his. The hospital was quiet this early in the morning. A few nurses wandered the halls, checking on people in the rooms but otherwise there was no one about. Logan listened to him talk about why he was at the hospital and nodded smiling at him. She had remembered him talking about his friend. “She and her baby are ok right?” She asked carefully. His apology made her squeeze his hand lightly and smile at him. “You don’t have to be sorry. I understand.” Looking at him she caught sight of his eyes, black. It was the blood.
Being pulled back to the world around her by his voice she shrugged. “I’m not sure really. I tried to go back to sleep but just couldn’t” In reality she knew exactly why she couldn’t sleep. It was the worries of her relationship with him, the worries of keeping her family together, of wondering where her life was going. Nightmares of things happening to her loved ones, things she couldn’t stop. Shaking her head slightly, she took a deep breath as they stepped outside. Sure the air in the city wasn’t as nice as in the forest but it was better than the stuffy air in the hospital. Looking to Kenny, she kept them walking away from the hospital. “I’d like that.” She smiled at him as they walked; she swung their hands lightly between them.
Looking up at him again she could still see the black in his eyes. “When was the last time you fed?” She asked softly, as she looked away from him again. He worried her sometimes with how wrapped up in things he got. She hoped he remember that she was always there for him. Something about the lycan blood in her body neutralized the venom in his bite. It allowed him to feed from her. She still wasn’t sure if it was anything like human blood for him, but she knew it was at least better than animal blood. Logan also knew that he usually left the blood bags his father brought home for his brothers.
Kenny kept his eyes focused on either Logan or the floor. He didn't want to take the chance in looking at any humans roaming the halls. The sight of the blood pumping in their necks just made his throat burn. His mouth was already swelling with the venom which made it even harder to ignore. "She's fine and her baby is healthy. Seven pounds and three ounces. She said it was a good weight for him so I didn't question." In all honesty, his human memories were so faded and blurred he couldn't remember much about anything human. Thankfully, Logan had been patient as he was learning. Of course, around her and her family he at least tried to 'be' human. Such as shifting his weight from side to side or moving his chest every now and then. Even down to blinking which none of these things were needed. He only did them to make the others more comfortable. Besides, it was good practice when around humans.
He gave a light smile when she didn't argue laying down. She needed her sleep and he loved to watch her. Sleeping just looked so peaceful it was very interesting to him. "Oh," He began with a plain face. He, once again, got caught up in everything he hasn't fed for a week. If he waited any longer he would break. "Awhile." He admitted. Once outside he began to breathe normally. Again, breathing wasn't needed but he liked it. At least outside he could only smell the blood that was still inside the humans. He didn't like the smell of all the pollution though.
He didn't mind Logan's drinking blood. He preferred it actually. It wasn't the same as human blood but it did have the taste of human. The other tastes were slight animal with whatever is in her system that makes her what she is. It was sweet but unique. "I'm still worried I might hurt you." He knew Logan would catch onto what he was talking about. He also knew Logan would offer her own blood again which is why he said it.
She was very aware vampires tend to go into a frenzy when blood comes into their mouths. He almost did come into a strange frenzy when feeding from her one time. He had forced himself to stop so he wouldn't hurt her.
Holding his hand, she kept him close to her. In part it was to hold him back in case they passed someone and it caused Kenny to freak out. The other part was just that she loved having him close to her. She hated being away from his side when she had to be. Any chance she could take to have him close to her, she would grab at. Logan giggled a little at Kenny’s comment. She knew he didn’t remember much of being a human, but was glad he tried for her and her family. It honestly didn’t bother her, but Logan was sure it might have bothered Amera and Ashley to see him standing like a statue.
She returned the smile that he gave her. She would never turn down being with him, even if she didn’t sleep she would be with him and that was more than enough for her. Being outside, she relaxed the tightened hold she hadn’t realized she had on Kenny’s hand. Logan watched him as he breathed in the night air. It made her smile to see him calming down. His answer to her question brought a frown to her face. She hated when he did this. She knew he didn’t like being what he was but she wished he would take care of himself more. The thought passed through her mind of bottling her blood for him. It was an idea. She could bring it up later to him. She knew what he was talking about with his next words and she shook her head.
“I know the risks, the dangers and all that. You’ve told me so many times. But you know that I want to help you if I can. And by giving you that I can. So let me. I don’t know what it is but you can’t hurt me with your bite.” She looked at him with a gentle smile. “Lets go back to your place. We can talk more there and even if it ends up being the last time, you need it tonight.” She gave him a look that told him she wanted this. She knew in her head though that tonight wouldn’t be the last time. Kenny was hers to love and care for as she was his.
Kenny didn't realize Logan had such a grip on his hand until she loosened it. It wasn't like her grip hurt. He was positive he was stronger than her but he would never dare test it. He would continue doing what he always does, be careful. A sigh escaped him as he listened to her talk. He knew she would say something like this. He didn't argue with her though.
He walked over to the forest then started running with her. Dodging the trees, bushes, and boulders was a breeze for Kenny. As most vampires say, we should be worrying about hurting the forest not the forest hurting us. It was true. He could easily slice a tree or boulder in half with his hand. He amazed himself at how he hasn't hurt a human in awhile. Before it was on purpose, for food, but now he didn't need to do that. He just had to be careful when around them.
Once they reached the house he unlocked the door and held it open for her. "Let's go to the living room." He said knowing no one else was in the house. There was no need to migrate to his room when the house was completely free.
Smiling, he grabbed Logan's waist and spun her around once before flopping down on the couch with her on his lap. "I love you." He said looking at her. It was time alone with her and as always he wasn't planning on wasting a single minute of it.
A small smile slipped on her face as Kenny didn’t fight her back on the feeding. She gave him a quick kiss as he led them over to the forest. Logan breathed out as she started through the forest with Kenny at her side. They were equally fast which made games of tag that much more fun. And it made times like this fun too. She loved to run with him. Easily dodging trees and rocks she stayed next to Kenny the whole way. It wasn’t her first time going to his house, not to mention the trail of his scent was easy enough to pick up from the forest.
Upon reaching the house, she let out a long breath. Running like that didn’t affect her breathing in anyway, she just loved the forest air better than the city’s. Watching Kenny from behind as he unlocked the door she couldn’t help but grin. She was lucky and she knew it. Passing him as he held the door open for him, she stole another kiss as she passed and quickly took off to the living room, laughing. She loved when they had his house to themselves. Her house was never empty.
A small squeal of glee escaped her lips as he grabbed onto her waist and spun her around. Laughing, she fell on top of him on the couch and wiggled around for a moment, getting comfy. She grinned down at him and locked eyes with him as she responded. “I love you more.” She said, a playful grin slipping on her face as she looked down at him, her fingers fiddling with his shirt. “So what now?” She asked with a slight smirk and a quirked eyebrow.
